Applying for 2028 entry?
This page sets out the rules for entry in 2027, which used the 2026 test. Universities usually publish the next year's rules in the first half of the year. Most carry over with small changes, so this is a sound guide to what to expect, but read Western Sydney's own pages before you apply.
Courses
- Bachelor of Clinical Science (Medicine) / Doctor of Medicine, five years.
- Clinical teaching at Campbelltown, Blacktown and Mount Druitt, with rural placements possible.
How Western Sydney uses the UCAT
- The UCAT must be sat in the year you apply.
- The threshold for an interview is not set on the total score alone: the university says individual sections may be weighted.
- Final offers are based 75% on interview performance and 25% on the UCAT, for applicants who meet the academic threshold.
Published scores and cut-offs
Western Sydney University does not publish UCAT cut-offs on the pages we checked. Scores and percentiles shows where a total sits among all candidates.
School results and subjects
- ATAR of 95.5 for applicants from outside Greater Western Sydney.
- ATAR of 93.5 for residents of Greater Western Sydney for the five years before starting.
- ATAR of 91.5 under the rural scheme.
The interview
- A multi-station mini interview on Zoom, about eight minutes a station, with a different interviewer at each.
- Held in late November, with no alternative dates.
- Worth 75% of the final offer.
How to apply
- Domestic applicants apply through UAC only.
- For 2027 entry, applications closed on 30 September 2026, interview invitations went out at the end of October and offers begin on 8 January 2027.
The UCAT is booked separately from your university application, months earlier. See the UCAT dates and fees.
Places
- The total is not stated. At least 15 places are kept for the rural scheme.
Rural, Indigenous and other entry pathways
- Rural Entry Admission Scheme, for five consecutive or ten cumulative years of rural residence.
- A lower ATAR threshold for long-term residents of Greater Western Sydney.
- An Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander pathway with its own interview.
International applicants
- International applicants sit the ISAT, not the UCAT.
Also worth knowing
- Transfers between the Western Sydney and Charles Sturt programs are not permitted.
What this means for your preparation
Whatever the weighting, a higher UCAT total widens your options, because most applicants apply to more than one university. Start with the twelve-week plan, and try the free practice questions to see where you stand.
