UCAT for Griffith University

Griffith uses the UCAT in two different ways: as the gate to a dentistry interview, and as an optional tie-breaker for its Medical Science pathway to medicine.

Applying for 2028 entry?

This page sets out the rules for entry in 2027, which used the 2026 test. Universities usually publish the next year's rules in the first half of the year. Most carry over with small changes, so this is a sound guide to what to expect, but read Griffith's own pages before you apply.

Courses

  • Bachelor of Dental Health Science, three years at the Gold Coast, followed by the Master of Dentistry.
  • Bachelor of Medical Science, two years at the Gold Coast or Nathan, with guaranteed entry to the Doctor of Medicine for graduates who reach the required grades.

How Griffith uses the UCAT

  • Dentistry: the UCAT is required, and interview invitations are based on the UCAT total.
  • Medical Science: the UCAT is optional. ATAR comes first, and the UCAT total separates applicants in the same ATAR band. Applicants without a UCAT result are ranked at the bottom of their band.

Published scores and cut-offs

  • Medical Science, 2026 intake: minimum adjusted ATAR of 99.90 at the Gold Coast and 99.95 at Nathan.
  • Medical Science, 2026 intake at the Gold Coast: a UCAT total of 2240 was the minimum among applicants at the threshold ATAR.

Cut-offs are the result of each year's field, not a target set in advance. They move from year to year. Scores and percentiles shows where a total sits among all candidates.

School results and subjects

  • Dentistry: English, plus one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematical Methods.
  • Medical Science: for current or very recent Year 12 students with no previous tertiary study.

The interview

  • Dentistry: an online multi-scenario interview taking about an hour, held in late November.
  • Medical Science: no interview.

How to apply

  • Apply through QTAC.
  • For 2027 entry, dentistry closed on 30 September 2026. Medical Science stays open until late December.

  • Medical Science: 30 places at the Gold Coast and 30 at Nathan.

  • Rural Priority Access Scheme, with reserved dentistry places.
  • First Peoples Health Pathway.

Also worth knowing

  • Medical Science graduates need a grade point average of 5.5 or higher for the guaranteed place in the Doctor of Medicine.
