Applying for 2028 entry?

This page sets out the rules for entry in 2027, which used the 2026 test. Universities usually publish the next year's rules in the first half of the year. Most carry over with small changes, so this is a sound guide to what to expect, but read Curtin's own pages before you apply.

Courses

  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, five years full time at Curtin Perth.

How Curtin uses the UCAT

  • The UCAT must be sat in the year you apply. Ranking uses the total of the cognitive subtests, and there is no minimum.
  • Interview invitations: academic merit, Casper and UCAT in the ratio 35 : 35 : 30.
  • Final offers: ATAR, UCAT and interview in the ratio 40 : 20 : 40.

Published scores and cut-offs

Curtin University does not publish UCAT cut-offs on the pages we checked. Scores and percentiles shows where a total sits among all candidates.

School results and subjects

  • A minimum ATAR of 95.
  • Chemistry ATAR with a scaled score of 50 or more.
  • A mathematics course and Biology or Human Biology are desirable.

The interview

  • A multiple mini interview, face to face or online.
  • For 2027 entry: early December 2026 and January 2027. The late January round is online, for interstate and overseas applicants.
  • Worth 40% of the final ranking.

How to apply

  • Apply through TISC.
  • For 2027 entry, TISC applications closed on 30 September 2026.
  • The Casper test had sittings in August, September and October 2026.

The UCAT is booked separately from your university application, months earlier. See the UCAT dates and fees.

Places

  • About 110 places in 2027. Up to a quarter are for rural applicants, and about 28% of Commonwealth supported places are bonded.

Rural, Indigenous and other entry pathways

  • Rural entry for applicants from Western Australia, the Northern Territory and South Australia.
  • An equity pathway for school leavers from eligible Western Australian schools.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entry, with no UCAT or Casper required.

International applicants

  • International applicants sit both the UCAT ANZ and Casper.

Also worth knowing

  • The Casper test is compulsory and must be taken in the same year as the application.

What this means for your preparation

Whatever the weighting, a higher UCAT total widens your options, because most applicants apply to more than one university. Start with the twelve-week plan, and try the free practice questions to see where you stand.
